Meet your Mixologist
Wendy McGuinness is an award-winning mixologist, who has competed and represented companies such as Grey Goose, Jameson, Beefeater and Hennessy. For the past 12 years, Wendy has been working in the Vancouver restaurant scene and has helped develop multiple cocktail programs for some of the country’s top restaurants, including Chambar, Bao Bei and Kissa Tanto.
Step #1: Have your Cocktail or Mocktail kit opened and ready with equipment listed to the right on hand.
Step #2: Ensure that your technology works and everything is plugged in or charged.
Step #3: Ensure you have video and chat enabled.
Step #4: Get dressed to impress and ready to drink Rum!
What you need:
This Rum Masterclass will of course teach you the basics of mixing these delicious cocktail the question then is whether you intend on elevating your delicious beverages to the next level.
If you prefer a slower pace we will show you how to create a simpler version of these cocktails. For this you will need a space where you have room to mix and shake your cocktail.
All you will need is:
- 1 x Small bowl or a bucket of ice
- 1 x Rocks glass or any flat bottomed glass
- 2 x Martini glass, wine glass, champagne flute or any drinking glass
The Next Level...
If you are looking to take your cocktail to the next level we will show you how to elevate your drink by including simple syrups, a cinnamon smoked glass and of course well be adding some flair to your garnishes. For this you will need to set up your equipment in your kitchen. Preferably near a burner or stove top.
You will also need the following items or something similar to hand at your workspace. Those following the simple method will only need items in bold:
- Access to running water
- 1 x Cutting board
- 1 x Paring knife or similar
- 1 x Peeler (good to have but not essential)
- 1 x Small pot
- 1 x Strainer
- 1 x Small bowl filled with ice
- 1 x Rocks glass or similar
- 2 x Martini glass or wine glass or champagne flute
- 1 x Cup of white sugar
- 1 x Small side plate
- Measuring cups
- 1 x Teaspoon
- 1 x Wooden spoon
