In this 60-90 minute lunch and learn session, participants engage in an innovative team challenge focused on applied design and creative thinking. Teams will design, innovate, and create a robot purpose-built to complete a designated task from a myriad of available components.
Teams receive a set of both competitive and collaborative tasks that their finished robot will need to complete. Whether the robot needs to be agile, strong, or capable of ramming or shielding something to succeed in the challenge, participants must think creatively and strategically. Once created, teams test their bots in a series of trials to assess their readiness for the final challenge. Modifications may be required as they innovate to create the best robot possible.
After completing the activity, participants engage in a facilitated discussion and debrief session. This allows them to reflect on their design and creative thinking strategies, share insights, and discuss how to apply these skills in their daily work environment. The debrief helps reinforce key lessons learned and encourages continued exploration of applied design and creative thinking practices.
